About the Position

Start: As soon as possible  Duration: Full time, 6 months to start with a possibility of extension Location: Gothenburg, on site

We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer with strong embedded development skills to join a technology-driven company working at the forefront of automotive electrification. The company develops advanced electronic control systems and software solutions for next-generation vehicles, with a particular focus on electric powertrain technologies and highly reliable control units. You will join an experienced engineering environment where software plays a critical role in enabling safe, efficient and high-performance electric mobility.

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you will work with the development of low-level and middleware platform software for powertrain Electronic Control Units (ECUs), taking solutions from early prototypes through to production. You will be involved throughout the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture to implementation, testing, integration and debugging. You will work hands-on with AUTOSAR-based software, embedded C/C++, microcontrollers and hardware interfaces. The role also involves close collaboration with other engineers to integrate individual functions into the ECU and ensure reliable operation of critical electric vehicle components.

The position is well suited for someone who enjoys working close to both software and hardware, solving complex technical challenges and contributing to products where reliability and quality are essential.

Job Requirements

  • Several years of experience in embedded software development, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Strong programming skills in Embedded C and experience with C++.
  • Experience developing software for microcontrollers and embedded control systems.
  • Good understanding of AUTOSAR architecture and development for automotive ECUs.
  • Knowledge of OS concepts and embedded software development techniques.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, SPI and UART.
  • Experience with hardware interfaces and development of low-level drivers for microcontroller peripherals, such as ADC, DAC, PWM, DMA, timers and watchdogs.
  • Hands-on experience with on-chip debugging tools and troubleshooting both software and hardware.
  • Strong understanding of the C compiler, linker and embedded build process.
  • Experience with software version control systems such as Git and/or SVN.
  • Familiarity with issue, configuration and test management tools.
  • Experience working according to Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across different technical disciplines.

Experience with electric powertrain systems, automotive electronics or safety-critical embedded systems is highly advantageous.
